Larry the Ostrich
Larry the Ostrich came to life very spontaneously once I decided I wanted to put a new twist
on the idea of an old comic I used to follow in the newspapers when I was a child.
I knew it was going to be different, maybe more mature in a sense. Yet, it was to be for children and adults alike.
I was in a restaurant with my family one evening. It was one of those places where you can draw on the paper table covering. The temptation of the clean, smooth feel of paper and the assorted crayons invited me to begin drawing. Quite spontaneously I drew Larry. As soon as I saw him I knew he'd be the character for "Love Lives..."
It is a myth that ostriches hide from life by sticking their head in the sand. Unless, of course, for a minute while they're turning their eggs around. Anyway, Larry wants to change the stigma of being afraid of Life, so he's showing the world all the different places that "Love Lives..."
